Academic Reinstatement, Permanent Dismissal, & Returning Student Application
Academic Reinstatement
Students who return after a required Academic Unit Dismissal or a Leave of Absence are able to be reinstated to the Kelley School of Business by completing the Returning Student Application after being away from Indiana University for one calendar year.
To ensure timely enrollment for a student's returning semester, Returning Student Applications for Academic Unit Dismissal students must be completed by the following dates:
- Summer return - October 1st
- Fall return - March 1st
- Spring return - October 1st
Failure to apply by the above deadlines will result in the Returning Student Application being denied.
Academically Reinstated students return to Kelley on Academic Alert and must meet all of the standards for students on Academic Alert.
Students who have been away from Indiana University for three or more years may be able to apply for and use Indiana University Bloomington's Fresh Start Policy.

Permanent Dismissal
If a student is Academically Reinstated to the Kelley School of Business on Academic Alert status and fails to meet the minimum GPA and grade requirements as outlined in the Academic Unit Dismissal or Transition policy in any semester after their return, the student will be Permanently Dismissed from the Kelley School of Business and unable to return as a Kelley School of Business major at any time.
For more information, see the Academic Standing (Watch, Alert, and Dismissal or Transition) policy in this bulletin.
